NVWE Notes: Rich in body, fruit extraction and sweet oakiness in the textbook Hobbs style, this very youthful Pinot succeeds today on pure generosity. The aromas are a juicy mélange of dark boysenberry, Bing cherry galette, dark plum, sweet dark rose, sumac berry, pink peppercorn, nutmeg, sweet tobacco and hazelnut nougat. Mouth-filling and supple, it opens with loads of sweet oak and berry-cherry fruit that gives way to a more intense core of Italian maraschino cherry and lots of sweet oaky spice. The finish is long, if a bit grippy, and it’s layered with boysenberry, cherry, nutmeg and baking spice flavors. This wine is notably food-worthy, although it would appreciate several more years of cellar-time. It will deserve grand cuisine, whether served now or years from today. 600 cases produced.
