Whitehall Lane Pinot Noir, Las Brisas Vineyard, Carneros 2016
NVWE Notes: This rich Pinot Noir is very much "Carneros" in its gradually expansive, slightly creamy aromas of strawberry cobbler, Bing cherry, teaberry, dried orange peel, clove, baking-spice, star anise and coriander seed. There is richness but also a quiet zest on the palate, which brings a leaner mouth-feel to flavors of cherry pie, strawberry, red currant, mulling-spice, sandalwood and emerging suggestions of anise and cardamom. The finish is dinner-friendly and lingering and carries the authority for darker meats without overpowering pork or roast chicken. It should reward another year or two of cellaring.
