In the nose, scents of Italian Maraschino cherry, red boysenberry, red currant and blood orange zest lead toward a deeper core of Creme de Cassis: these elements finding impressive harmony with notes of baking-spice, sweet tobacco leaf, laurel and dried sage. Things are weightier than expected on the palate, yet just as bright and forthcoming, and the rich fruit, sweet-savory spice and herbal accents easily overcome the wines polished tannins.
