PAHLMEYER PROPRIETARY RED '14
PAHLMEYER PROPRIETARY RED WINE, COOMBSVILLE, NAPA VALLEY 2014

The 2014 Proprietary Red Wine is a blend of 87% Cabernet Sauvignon, 4% Cabernet Franc and the rest Petit Verdot, Merlot and Malbec, again, showing slightly less depth than its two surrounding siblings, but beautiful pure fruit, silky, velvety tannins, a layered mouthfeel and deep blackcurrant and black cherry fruit intermixed with cedar wood, fruitcake and smoky oak. This is a terrific wine as well and it will be the fastest out of the gate in terms of evolution - drinking beautifully for the next 15+ years. Drink Date 2016 - 2031. Robert M. Pahlmeyer's 2014 Proprietary Red is a highly attractive wine with the mid-weight structure of the vintage. Dark red cherry, plum, mint and new French oak notes abound. The 2014 has more than enough depth and density to drink well with minimal cellaring, although my sense is that the wine will be at its best once it has dropped some of its baby fat.
