Winemakers Braiden Albrecht and Andy Erickson crafted magic out of a difficult vintage, picking the grapes for this beautiful white well before the October 2017 fires. It's gorgeously racy and light, bright and effusive, offering fleshy flavors of peach and lemon. Licorice and fennel finish out the expressive wine, which persists in wet stone. NVWE Notes: This winery has returned to it's previous glory and this lovely wine is yet another proof. The aromas fan-out as a complex, rich, zesty mix of pear, baked green apple, fresh green apple skin and Green Gage plum supported by suggestions of vanilla, nutmeg and a hint of guava, the whole rising above a firmer mineral undercurrent. Palate-coating body is balanced by zesty fruit in the mouth, where pear, apple, apple skin, green plum and rich vanilla taffy and baking-spice flavors counterpoint the ever present minerality. Terrific now (not least for it's ultra-long finish) it is classically Mount Veeder in character and will certainly be even more so in three or four years. 1800 cases produced.
