NVWE Notes: A rustic winter pleasure, this mature Petite Sirah offers a bouquet of mulberry jam, blueberry, pomegranate syrup, carob molasses, cocoa nibs, black licorice, pan roasted herbs and dried pine needles. It is gutsy and still a bit gripping on the palate, where a note of heady ripeness and drought year hardness sets it up for service with darkly caramelized meats and cold weather stews. The flavors linger well and hold focus until the end, but this is not a sipper and it wants food to fully bring forth its virtues. 80 cases produced.
