Lineage 2014 Proprietary Red
2014 Steven Kent "Lineage" Proprietary Red Wine, Livermore
NVWE Notes: As in the past, this 2014 will likely prove the brightest star in its appellation. The aromas are a rich fruity-spicy perfume of black cherry, sour red cherry, purple plum, pomegranate syrup, strawberry jam, baking-spice, star anise, clove, cedar, vanilla, tobacco and dried herbs. It is notably tongue-coating on the palate, where the texture is supple and the tannins a backdrop. The flavors, a focused, youthful medley of sweet and sour red cherry, red raspberry, red currant, rose, peppercorn, canela, vanilla toffee, baking-spice and sweet tobacco, linger nicely, with a dinner-friendly brightness. Delicious now, it should well repay another three or more years of cellaring. A blend of 50% Cabernet Sauvignon, 30% Cabernet Franc, 15% Merlot, 3% Petite Verdot and 2% Malbec.

Cellar Selection
This is a keeper of a wine, tightly wrapped in tannins, showing restrained tobacco, herb and roasted fruit flavors and a spicy layering of oak. Owner Steven Kent Mirassou blended 50% Cabernet Sauvignon with 35% Cabernet Franc and topped it with 10% Merlot and 5% Petit Verdot. To drink soon, it will need an indulgent risotto or grilled lamb chop. Best after 2022. JIM GORDON 4/1/2019
