NVWE Notes: This is classic Lewis Napa Cab, along the lines of their memorable 2004 bottling. The aromas are an opulent blast of blackberry, mulberry, black cherry pit, black currant, Elephant Heart plum, violet, coffee toffee, date sugar, dark tobacco and hazelnut nougat scents. It is firmer and leaner in the mouth, as polished tannins and fruit zest join to tighten up both the dramatic flavors and palate-coating texture and highlight the sweet-savory elements. Airing unveils a luxurious, lingering finish, where a wave of creamy-spicy barrel flavors is dwarfed by unrelenting, sweet-natured fruit. Sure to retain its beauty for 20 years and unlikely to hit full stride for another 7 or 8, it is hard to ignore right now.
