NVWE Notes: As always, Lato's "Souvenir" seems poised between California Chardonnay and Puligny Montrachet, veering toward the later with cellar time. The nose weaves scents of Fuji applesauce, white peach, candied lemon peel, white rose, vanilla wafer, toasted meringue and hazelnut husk into a rich, if youthful melange. It proves weightier than expected on the palate, where its deep core of baked green apple, white peach and lemon curd achieves elegant harmony with notes of peach blossom, orange blossom, honeysuckle, brioche, baking-spice and hazelnut nougat. Lingering with polished style, this delicious wine should be a knockout in eighteen to thirty months.
