CHASSEUR PINOT NOIR YR '13
CHASSEUR PINOT NOIR, YELLOW ROCK VINEYARD, RUSSIAN RIVER VALLEY 2013
NVWE Notes: Notable for its well-defined, textbook Russian River fruit, the nose of this Pinot Noir heaps layers of dark cherry, Italian Maraschino cherry, dark boysenberry, whortleberry, raspberry coulis, fresh red rose, violet and pink peppercorn upon lush sweet-savory undercurrents of baking spices, tobacco leaf and hazelnut nougat. All of these notes repeat on the palate, where hints of blood orange, toasted grain and coriander seed join the party. The texture is palate-coating, yet piquant, and the finish long and generous, if still a hint youthfully bright. This one will be be comfortable with Prime rib, but has the grace for elegant entrees. 100 cases made.
Of the four Pinot Noirs, the 2013 Pinot Noir Yellow Rock shows loads of black raspberry and black cherry fruit, medium to full body, beautiful purity and density, and a sexy, almost Corton style from Burgundy’s Côte de Beaune. Drink it over the next 7-10 years. Robert M. Parker, Jr. 3rd Mar 2016
