NVWE Notes: This is an immediately satisfying wine: stylish, generous and forthcoming, it conveys the personality of this famous property with elan. The nose is a perfume of Italian Maraschino cherry, black cherry, blueberry, black raspberry, black currant, dried black fig, vanilla toffee, hazelnut nougat, baking-spice, sweet dark tobacco and laurel. It is as generous and forthcoming on the palate, where the tannins are no match for its creamy wave of seductive fruit and pretty spice. The finish is tongue-coating, delicious and lingers, with a flashy burst of sour cherry and licorice root at the end. It will improve for five years at least.

Deep garnet-purple colored, the 2017 Cabernet Sauvignon Beckstoffer Las Piedras Vineyard La Bam takes a little coaxing to shake loose notes of fresh blackcurrants, blueberry compote and chocolate-covered cherries with touches of camphor, dried herbs and tilled soil plus a waft of cast-iron pan. Medium to full-bodied, the palate has compelling energy with bags of bright black and red fruit, supported by chewy tannins, finishing savory. Drink Date 2021 - 2038. Issue 245 End of October 2019

The 2017 Cabernet Sauvignon Beckstoffer Las Piedras Vineyard La Bam is floral, spiced and lifted, especially for a wine from this site, where the wines tend to be much more potent.
