BRULIAM PINOT SANGIACOMO '16
BRULIAM PINOT NOIR, SANGIACOMO VINEYARD, SONOMA COAST 2016
NVWE Notes: Sangiacomo is a property known for gutsy, darkly focused fruit and almost feral earthiness. This bottling veers in an entirely different direction. The nose offers scents of black raspberry, dark cherry, blood orange, dried dark rose, black peppercorn, black tea, bouillon and hints of smoked meat and rosemary: all of which fan-out with an almost creamy elegance. On the palate, it is richly oaky, piquantly fruity and surprisingly supple, despite notable tannic grip and fruit notes that seem a youthfully-coiled replica of the nose. The finish is rounded and lingering, with a tight core of cherry-boysenberry and emerging notes of tobacco leaf and dried herbs. Already food-worthy, it should grow significantly in stature and elegance over the next four years. 150 cases produced.
Medium ruby colored, the 2016 Pinot Noir Sangiacomo Vineyards has a stemmy nose with bright red fruits and herbs plus touches of tar, smoke and earth. Medium-bodied with earthy red fruits in the mouth, it has dusty-textured tannins and good concentration of flavor on the finish. 150 cases produced. Drink Date 2019 - 2024. Erin Brooks 30th Apr 2019
This is a thick, concentrated wine that opens into lovely, textured waves of fresh strawberry and mint. Underlying a fruity center are elements of dried herb, lavender and forest, with a lasting embrace of integrated oak. Virginie Boone 8/1/2019
