NVWE Notes: This is a brilliant debut from an emerging vineyard. The nose is a focused perfume of cracked black pepper, red currant jelly, red cherry, dried strawberry, dried pink rose, dried orange peel, nougat, mace and hazelnut meringue. The wine is immediately attractive on the palate, where polished tannins join peppercorn notes to frame-in flavors that are both piquantly fruity and supple. Those flavors include strawberry, red currant, red cherry, cranberry, pink rose and dried orange peel, in harmony with a sweet-savory melange that adds cardamom, mace, nutmeg, baking spices, leather and forest mushrooms. The finish is long and sweet-natured, with an impressive core of tannin that promises an even more exciting future. 60 cases produced.
