NVWE Notes: This majestic Syrah is best sampled with two or three days airing. At that point the nose becomes truly expressive, pushing-forth dense, juicy, concentrated, zesty aromas of raspberry, pomegranate syrup, dark cherry, violet, blueberry, date sugar, dried herbs, toffee, sweet pipe tobacco and cracked black pepper. Stunning grip, piquant zest, huge body and tongue-coating texture are all notable on the palate, where flavors of sour red cherry, red and black raspberry, pomegranate, toast, caramel, peppercorn, star anise, dried sage and bay leaf nest on a chiseled structure. The finish is lingering and bright, displacing all the weight that builds before it. Terrific if given enough air, if should be stunning in five years and might live thirty. 200 cases made.
