If yet another great vintage of the Estate bottling, the 2022 is unusually reserved and firm in structure. The aromas are a tightly wrapped mix of raspberry coulis, ripe Bing cherry, Cherry Bounce liqueur, sweet tobacco leaf and hazelnut husk. It is zesty, gripping and racy on the palate, yet focused and extremely long, and mineral-laced flavors of Oolong tea, bresaola, clove and hazelnut fan-out in support of coiled fruit notes of red licorice, red cherry candy and dried red berries. Destined to be a delicious, somewhat masculine Pinot at maturity, so despite its current appeal, it will need four years or more in the cellar to show all it will have to show.
