Like so many fine 2018 Cabs this bottling is still a bit tight yet is obviously headed in the right direction. It opens with bright, youthfully coiled aromas of black raspberry, blackberry jam, black currant, mulberry, clove, cedar, sandalwood, leather, peppery bouillon and graphite. It is tense and concentrated on the palate where tannin and vibrant fruit create a lean, sappy impression to counterpoint the emerging sour dark cherry, black currant,blueberry and mulberry fruit. The spice notes join at the finish which is rich and lingering. A great value but a wine best given more time to fully reveal itself, it will be an ideal foil for darkly caramelized beef dishes, or steak in a reduced Cabernet sauce. A blend of 100% Cabernet Sauvignon from Rutherford, St Helena and Oak Knoll vineyards. 369 cases produced.
