NVWE Notes: This beefy bottling offers deep, juicy-rich aromas of blueberry syrup, black cherry, blackberry, grilled black fig and vanilla toffee along with developing notes of baking-spices, anise and tobacco. Blueberry and black cherry are dominant themes on the palate, where toasty oak and firming tannins bring balance to the wines mouth-coating body. The finish is notably long, clearly youthful and of chiseled focus, with flavors of star anise, baking-spices and toast in counterpoint to the sweet-natured fruit. Delicious already, yet built to appreciate five to eight years of further cellaring, it is likely to still be vibrant in its 20th year.
