This is a racy-gutsy rendition of Petite Sirah, now mature enough to fully reveal its many virtues. The aromas are a forthcoming, focused array of red currant, spiced red cherry, sweet-pickled crab apple, pink and white peppercorn, cinnamon stick and star anise scents. It is gutsy yet surprisingly elegant (for Petite Sirah) on the palate, where all the aromatic promise is fulfilled and the fruit-centric flavors carry through a very long, focused and beautifully food-balanced finish. If certain to live for another decade, it is beautifully evolved and will prove a great companion to barbecued ribs and the like right now. 150 cases made.
