NVWE Notes: If as pure an example of its appellation as could be asked for, this beautiful Cab arrives with none of HM’s characteristic “rough edges”. The nose is a blast of blackberry, black currant, blueberry, sweet dark cherry and black fig in seamless harmony with sweet-savory aromas of clove, cedar, star anise, peppercorn, vanilla pipe tobacco and graphite. Each of the aromatic elements is triumphantly rendered on the palate, where the flavors are intense, the texture silky and the finish, with a bit of foresty spice added, lingers wonderfully. If certain to improve with moderate cellaring, it seems too good to miss right now. Blended with 8% St. Macaire, 150 cases produced.
