Firm, zesty and minerally, the nose of this wine suggests a French Chardonnay, but with undercurrents of spice typical of its vineyard source. Those aromas are a medley of tarte tatin, pear, tropical fruit hints, vanilla custard and slate. The mineral/zest component is even more vibrant on the palate, where these same notes prove as densely-packed in the mouth, and quite long-lingering, as the fruit and minerality seem firmly entwined. Better in 18 months and a gorgeously balanced dinner wine already. As the wine airs, flavors of tarte tatin and slate, and a hint of dried pineapple dominate the finish. 340 cases produced.
