Rich, complex and impressively evolved, the aromas of this seductive wine are a fulsome medley of sour red cherry, Santa Rosa plum tart, raspberry galette, pink rose, mace, star anise, baking spice and sweet tobacco leaf scents. It is gently creamy on the palate where it proves more youthfully fresh than expected, and the flavors of sour red cherry, cherry pit, fresh red plum compote, pink peppercorn, five-spice, sandalwood and sweet tobacco come forth in focused harmony. The finish is tasty and lingering, although anther twelve to eighteen months of cellar time should bring even more depth. This wine seems equally well suited for service with sauced white or red meats. 950 cases produced.
