Ghilmetti has proven the most classically elegant Cabernet vineyard in Livermore. The 2017 opens with rich, forthcoming aromas of blackberry, mulberry, plum pie, vanilla, nutmeg, peppercorn, bay leaf and graphite. In the mouth it is texturally supple and palate coating, and opens with fruit flavors of dark berry and plum that bring enough flavor authority and zest to dominate savory undercurrents of peppercorn, mace, baking spice, bay leaf and graphite. The finish is food-worthy, lingering and deliciously harmonious, and the wine should yet improve for another year or two. Blended with 20% Merlot & 5% Cabernet Franc, 3964 cases made.
