Deep and focused on varietal fruit and spice, the nose of this Syrah offers scents of dark sour cherry, black raspberry, pomegranate syrup, crushed dry dark rose, toasted rosemary, black peppercorn, bouillon, clove, kalamata olive and a suggestion of grilled game. It is lean in texture, gently gripping and food-balanced, and the lingering flavors already deliver much of the depth promised by the aromas. Delicious now, it will likely be better still in another year or two. From the Pey Family Winery.
