Forthcoming, focused and distinctive, this is textbook Heintz Chardonnay. The expressive, sharply delineated aromas are of lemon sorbet, lemon curd, pineapple core, crunchy fresh apple, vanilla wafer and toasted coconut all poised above an undercurrent of saline minerality: everything intense and in gorgeous harmony. Flavors of lemon, pineapple, quince, fresh apple, hazelnut meringue and the zesty-minerally background create an energetic tingling on the palate, where all the elements hold their elegance despite a mouthfeel that suggests some underlying power. The finish is super long and the balance already food-worthy, yet this classic bottling is perhaps 2 yrs or more from revealing all of its secrets. 400 cases produced.
