Scott Harvey 2020 Zinfandel "1869"
Scott Harvey 2020 Zinfandel "1869" Ancient Vines Amador County
San Francisco Wine Panel Score 94 Points
California’s oldest registered vineyard has again produced a unique and delicious dinner wine in 2020. The nose is a succulently piquant medley of dried red cherry, cranberry liqueur, dry rose, violet, star anise, amaretti cookies and red and Schezuan peppercorn: all poised above sharp minerality. It is racy in texture and every bit as complex as expected in the mouth, where the firming mineral strain reins-in its deep richness. The finish is sweet-natured, food worthy and exceptionally long, with flavors led by dry red cherry, panetone, amaretti cookies, star anise and potpourie all balanced by the ever-present minerality.
