Complex and distinctive, the nose of this intriguing Chardonnay melds contrasts of rich fruit and slate-like minerality to bring a statuesque raciness to golden fig, stone fruit, baked apple, quince jam, preserved lemon, hazelnut and sea shell scents. It proves plush on the palate, where Chablis-like notes of slate and some lemony zest create a sharp counterpoint to core flavors of baked apple, white peach, golden mulberry and quince, while notes of hazelnut husk and sea shell reinforce the impression of dryness. The finish lingers well and its intensity suggests that it should stand up the the most flavorful entrees. 110 cases produced.
