The nose offers scents of Santa Rosa plum, sweet pickled crab apple, Bing cherry, cranberry sauce and grenadine: all poised above sweet-savory scents of sumac berry, star anise, mulling-spice, sandalwood and an deep core of sweet red cherry. Richness, grip and piquantly fresh fruit create contrast on the palate, where the aromatic focus is well mirrored. The finish is generous and lingering and everything is food-balanced if notably youthful. It will likely take five years of cellar-time to bring forth all of this wine’s hidden secrets.
