If a bit tight when the cork is pulled, this fine Pinot Noir gradually reveals a seductively complex layering of fruit and spice. The aromas are a medley of sweet red plum, cranberry sauce, dry Michigan cherry, toffee and dried herbal scents poised above a note of bresaola. It is zestier and fuller than expected on the palate, where flavors of dried raspberry, bottled red cherry, cranberry and red plum fan out in harmony with notes of toasted rosemary and sandalwood above undercurrents of pencil shavings and bresaola. The finish is supple and lingering although structural tannins stiffen the mouth-feel. This is a fine dinner wine now, but it should be much more exciting in another twelve to thirty months.
