In tune with the style of its great vintage, the 2019 Poggi Twin Palms reprises all the virtues of their ostentatiously opulent 2018, yet the '19 is prettier and has a more suave texture. The nose offers ultra-rich aromas of black currant, blackberry, blueberry jam and a hint of dried black fig in harmony with savory additions of cedar, clove, laurel and toasted sage. Blueberry, black currant, black raspberry, black fig and licorice root dominate on the palate and these flavors linger through a very long, soft-edged finish which is never less than plush. With only modest airing, the wine suppresses its underlying tannin almost completely so current enjoyment is a pleasure, although things are sure to improve for two or three years. Blended with 5% Petite Verdot, 4% Cabernet Franc and 3% Merlot. 98 cases produced.
