This Rhône-dominated estate red blend begins with aromas of baked cherry, nutmeg, anise, tar and smoked meat on the nose. The palate is more smoke driven than the nose, with hints of hickory-kissed charcuterie, but there's much more happening too, including cherry compote, sumac, soy and mocha flavors. 12/1/2022 Matt Kettmann

A blend of 52% Grenache, 44% Syrah and 4% Pinot Noir, this “New World Chateauneuf du Pape” proves generous yet elegant, as its aromas of grenadine, strawberry, sour red cherry and pink peppercorn rise above others of mace, baking spice and star anise. It is as bright yet feels weightier on the palate, where the structure is firmed by a combination of zest, mineralogy and polished tannic grip. Although still showing some youthful firmness, the lingering finish is truly appealing already as a medley of black cherry, strawberry jam and black pushes to the forefront. It will yet improve for another eighteen months and likely beyond.
