Forthcoming and notably ripe in 2022, the Pisoni Chardonnay is once again delicious, if more aromatically forthcoming than it often is. The nose is a luxurious medley of jasmine, lychee, sweet golden apple, baked white peach, golden mulberry, poached pear and hazelnut meringue, with a strong mineral undercurrent and a hint of salinity. It is plush and mouth-coating and notably long-lingering on the palate, where fresh applesauce and lemon peel notes join with the drying minerality to contrast and uplift the juicy-ripe fruit. As the wine airs, richer flavors of dried apricot and papaya chime-in, while chalk and Chablis-like flintiness bring balance to the finish. A near ideal companion to sea food, sauced sweet breads or flavorful white meat dishes or pasta already, ir may be better still in another year or two.
