Our Notes: This rich pinot is textbook P & H Hyde all the way. The opening aromas are a marriage of mocha and hazelnut tones to fruit scents of Bing cherry, dried cranberry, red plum and dark cherry galette. As the wine airs, undercurrents of pink peppercorn, star anise, forest mushroom and tobacco chime-in. It is plush and supple in the mouth, where gently zesty flavors of red cherry, cranberry and cherry pie reach a generous harmony with milk chocolate and forest mushroom counterpoints. This seductively mouth-coating mix carries through a lingering and notably food-worthy finish. It should drink beautifully for at least another five years.

The 2017 Pinot Noir Hyde Vineyard, aged in 50% new oak, has a pale to medium ruby-purple color and a nose of cinnamon stick, charcuterie, baked cranberries, raspberries and boysenberry with oodles of violet and lilac perfume, licorice, tea leaves and fragrant earth. Light to medium-bodied, it’s bright, inviting and intense in the mouth with wonderful layering of earth, spice, amaro and floral notions. It’s energized by juicy acidity and structured with finely grained tannins, finishing long and flavorful.
