Perhaps the best yet of Papapietro’s many Leras bottlings, this beauty opens with lovely aromas of sour red cherry, strawberry preserves, lingonberry, red raspberry, pink rose, pink peppercorn, baking spice and tobacco leaf above a harder-edged mineral undercurrent. On the palate polished tannins and firming minerality turn an otherwise palate-coating texture lean, to bring a stylish feel to super-long flavors of strawberry preserves, sour cherry, lingonberry, sweet tobacco and hazelnut. Truly delicious now, it is destined to be considerably more so in another two years and likely well beyond. 1028 cases produced.
