Our Lady of Guadalupe 2022 Pinot Noir
2022 Our Lady of Guadalupe Pinot Noir Estate, Santa Rita Hills
San Francisco Wine Panel Score 96+ Points
Young and rich, yet already complex and distinctive, this Pinot offers aromas of cherry, pomegranate, cranberry, and lingonberry wrapped in savory scents that include hazelnut husk, sumac berry, five spice powder, vanilla and forest mushroom hints: these rising above a rich core of saline minerality. That mineral strain joins with citric zest and a bit of tannin to firm the texture on the palate, which both focuses the fruit, and brings the rich body into a more streamlined, racy mouthfeel. As the wine airs, the flavors emerge as a long-lingering melange of dry red cherry, whortleberry, lingonberry jam, grenadine, pink rose, sumac berry and pink peppercorn, counterpointed by the ever-present minerality. Obviously an ager, this beauty will stand up nicely to richer entrees like seared duck breast or Prime Rib right now. This is the debut Pinot Noir from a vineyard located in the western most reaches of this coastal appellation. 900 cases produced.
