All the promised drama and depth of this legendary property is captured in this bottling, where it is at once grand in scale, darkly complex, rich, distinctive, youthfully coiled yet altogether impressive. Aromas of dark rose, dark cherry, pomegranate, leather, mace, licorice and peppery bouillon surge forth while layers of exotic minerality underscore the fruit. It is packed with fruity-savory contrasts on the palate, where the texture has a tongue-drenching richness and all the expected flavors find harmony and linger dramatically. The tannins are well submerged and floral highlights creep in as the wine airs. Never less than impressive, it is terrific right now and should grow every more impressive for perhaps a decade.
