Morlet 2017 Pinot Noir FR-Seaview

2017 Morlet Pinot Noir “Coteaux Nobes” Fort Ross-Seaview

San Francisco Wine Panel Score 96+ Points

Impressively rich yet impeccably balanced, the aromas of this opulent Pinot are a harmony of cranberry, liqueur, pomegranate, Campari, blood orange, whortleberry and red rose scents tied to equally expressive notes of coriander seed, star anise and hazelnut nougat. It proves as rich and focused on the palate as expected and the flavors - a true mirror of the nose - have the zest to bring a racy feel on the palate. The finish adds drying notes of hazelnut husk and canela and the entire fruit and spice package lingers impressively. It has the gutsy richness to serve nicely right now with Prime Rib or seared duck breast, but three or four years of further cellar-time will surely produce a significantly more elegant result. 300 cases produced.

The Coteaux Nobles Pinot Noir comes from 27-year-old vines planted at the Nobles Ranch vineyard in Fort Ross-Seaview AVA. Medium ruby-purple colored, the 2017 Pinot Noir Coteaux Nobles has the most intense, fragrant perfume of warm cranberries, redcurrant jelly and fresh raspberries with hints of cinnamon stick, wild sage, underbrush and damp soil plus a waft of candied violets. Medium to full-bodied, the palate bursts with vivacity and freshness, offering layers of red berry and earthy flavors and a very finely grained texture, finishing long and perfumed. 400 cases were made.
