Impressive for its coiled aromas and notable grip, this is a Burgundy with a big future. The nose melds scents of dark cherry, spiced red plum, dried cranberry and pencil shavings that rise above mineral and baking spice undercurrents. It is quietly spicy on the palate, where red apple skin, cherry pit, coriander seed and mineral elements team up with polished tannins to create an impression of coiled gutsiness on the palate in support of focused cherry, plum and red currant fruit. The finish, packed with a sweet suggestion of star anise, is lingering and beautifully food balanced, and this classy wine should grow ever more attractive for three years and beyond.
