Showing great aromatic spice and intensity of fruit, this beauty really captures the character of its celebrated vineyard. In the nose, scents of fresh apple, apple skin, pear, quince, lemon zest, vanilla cream wafer and slate find a fine harmony, despite the wine's obvious youth. Things prove every bit as rich in fruit as hoped on the palate, yet the wine stays delightfully vibrant through a delicious, lingering, finish where notes of chalk and slate provide a vivid contrast to the opulent fruit. A great wine for sauced sea food already, it is likely two years from its full brilliance. Less than 200 cases were produced.
