Youthful, concentrated, and Oakville-esque in personality, the nose of this clearly age-worthy Cabernet opens with coiled aromas of red current, red cherry, red licorice, cedar, and hazelnut husk poised above a firm mineral undercurrent. It is concentrated yet shows gripping tannin and firming minerality on the palate, where chiseled flavors of red current jam, red cherry, and cranberry join others of hazelnut, cedar, baking spices, and tobacco leaf. The flavors are notably long, and the wine will repay service with Prime Rib and the like right now, even though it is likely five years or more from its full expression.
