This classy and clearly age-worthy Pinot Noir offers focused red and dark cherry fruit aromas, counterpointed by notable minerality and savory suggestions of mocha, toasted oak and leather. It proves gutsy and rich in the mouth, with dark cherry, black raspberry, grenadine, blood orange, mocha and hazelnut flavors, along with some emerging forest mushroom suggestions. An otherwise hefty mouth-feel is firmed by a combination of strong minerality, attractive zest and polished tannins. The finish is impressively long and the vineyard’s unique personality is well represented. Tasted after a bit of airing, the wine leaves a lasting memory of dry red cherry, pine nut, star anise and sweet tobacco flavors. Those with cellars can expect another three or four years of steady improvement. 185 cases produced.
