This wine develops nicely as it airs, to reveal a fine and forthcoming melange of sour red cherry, red currant, cranberry sauce, red rose, mace, cedar, baking spice and sweet tobacco leaf aromas. It proves as red fruit-centric on the palate, but carries a rich undercurrent of tannin that couples with youthful zest to firm and frame-in the mouth-feel. In the mouth, red currant jam, piquant fresh red cherry, cranberry sauce and pomegranate flavors create a chiseled focus which carries through a lingering finish. At the end, the tannins notify the taster that this 2021 is bigger and gutsier than can typically be expected from the Lyndenhurt bottling, so it will certainly get better for another three years or more. It will show its best with dark, caramelized meats, at this stage.
