Intense aromas of violet, lavender and dark, rich fruits draw the nose into this bottling from a region where Syrah tends to age with remarkable intrigue and grace. Blackberry and more purple-flower flavors pop on the palate, which will only grow more cohesive, gamy and interesting with patience. Drink 2025–2041. — Matt Kettmann 11/1/2023

This is a delicious and already forthcoming Syrah. The nose is a bright mix of pomegranate syrup, dark sour cherry, boysenberry, cracked black pepper, sumac berry, bouillon and Oolong tea leaf scents. It is medium bodied and just a hint gripping on the palate, where the tannins join youthful zest to slightly coarsen the richly spiced, evolving flavors. Fruit notes dominate the lingering, food worthy finish, although this wine will be even better if allowed another eighteen months in the cellar. It will show its best at this point with barbecued beef or lamb, but should always be a tasty companion for Mediterranean cuisine or Moroccan Tagine stews. 225 cases produced.
