Lucia 2019 Pinot Noir Sobranes
2019 Lucia Pinot Noir Soberanes Vineyard Santa Lucia Highlands
San Francisco Wine Panel Score 97 Points
Racy, zesty, focused and optimally ripe, the aromas of this sterling Pinot surge forth as a vibrant medley of Amarena cherry jam, cherry pit, sweet red plum, black raspberry, red rose, pink peppercorn, sumac berry and anise scents. It seems grander yet is just as forthcoming on the palate, where flavors of whortleberry and grenadine join others of sour red cherry, red raspberry, pink peppercorn, pink rose and sandalwood to rise above polished tannins in a sleek wave of classy fruit. The finish is piquantly fresh, lingering and already ultra satisfying. It should improve for three or four years, but will be terrific now with seared duck breast or grilled salmon. 410 cases made.
Rich aromas of boysenberry pie, lilac and violet make for a lively and floral nose to kick off this bottling. The palate is also opulent, lush and juicy but well focused, with chalky tannins and brilliant acidity framing those warm berry-pie flavors. Matt Kettmann 12/1/2021
