Always anxiously awaited, this vibrantly pure Zinfandel never lets us down. The nose of the 2021 is vibrantly fresh and poises piquant scents of fresh pomegranate, sour red cherry, red raspberry and a touch of star anise above a background of pink and Schezuan peppercorn. It is ultra refreshing in the mouth, where fresh red raspberry, pomegranate, cherry “cream sickle” and licorice root flavors take on a harder edge from pushy notes of mixed peppercorn. The finish is very long and notably food-worthy and the wine is a delight to drink already, even all by itself.
