On the palate, the wine shows the guts and grip of its fine vintage, while flavors of mocha, cedar and hazelnut support deep fruit notes to dominate a lingering finish redolent of dark fruits. That finish is centered on dark cherry, blackberry and currant which combine to smother any youthful rough edges, so it proves a fine companion to steaks already.
