Lapostolle 2022 Carmenere
2023 Lapostolle “Cuvee Alexandre” Carmenere, Apalta, Colchagua Valley, Chile
San Francisco Wine Panel Score 92+ Points
Carmenere, originally a Bordeaux grape, has truly find its home in South America. Sweet natured and rich, the nose of this attractive example is ripe, well focused and offers impressive aromas of black currant preserves, blueberry, purple plum jam, black raspberry, clove, black fig and a hint of licorice. Long, energetically fruity and gripping, and just as flavorful as hoped, it is already a fine companion to fatty dark meats and will certainly get ever better over the next year or so and possibly beyond. Blended with 6% Cabernet Sauvignon and 2% Syrah.
