Ideally ripe, concentrated and brightly focused, the nose of this soon to become classic Sonoma Coast Pinot fans out with aromas of red raspberry coulis, Elephant Heart plum compote, cranberry sauce, violet, pink rose, coriander seed, hazelnut nougat and baking spice. On the palate, it smothers its not insignificant tannins from the very first sip and although the tannic structure is as impressive as in 2019 and 2021 (which are aging beautifully) it never intrudes on the almost juicy intensity of the 2023. The wine’s mid-palate and finishing rush of flavor is centered on piquantly fresh notes of raspberry, blackberry, plum and cranberry, with the wine’s savory counterpoints kept well in proportion to create a succulent, harmonious whole. Truly delicious now, it is five years or more from a glorious maturity. 493 cases produced.
