Although dominantly Merlot this wine is Cabernet-like in character. The nose is a gutsy marriage of sweet dark plum, pomegranate molasses, baked dark cherry, violet, dark rose, cedar, peppercorn, toffee, nutmeg and vanilla scents. It is bigger, firmer and gripping on the palate and offers focused flavors that are essentially a more reserved mirror of the aromas. The mouth-feel is racy and the aftertaste lingering, with notes of rose petal jam, red plum and oaky spice center-stage at the finish. Expect another two years of notable development and serve it with dark, fatty meats in the meantime. A blend of 70% Merlot; 14% Cabernet Sauvignon; 8% Malbec; 3% Cabernet Franc & 1% Petite Sirah.

Barrel Aging:

Grapes for this wine were hand-picked and hand-sorted before undergoing fermentation in stainless steel tanks to enhance its fresh fruit profile and retain its bright acidity. The wine was then racked to 35% new French oak barrels for 16 months of aging.
