Quite ripe, if firm and youthfully reserved when the cork is pulled, this extremely fine Cabernet offers focused blueberry, black currant, blackberry, toasted cedar and vanilla aromas, supported by notes of black fig and dark cherry, all poised above dusty minerality. At opening, it proves lean, gutsy, concentrated and notably long on the palate, with rich oak and polished but notable tannins supporting tightly coiled fruit. Airing brings forth impressive, clearly age-worthy flavors and a distinctively Diamond Mountain personality. Focused blueberry, blackberry, black currant, mace, clove, licorice root and a hint of crushed rock are all in evidence, along with a lingering, mocha accented finish. This is the best Davies Cab in our group memory and it is sure to be really super in 4-5 years. 1000 6-packs produced.
