Hundred Acre 2019 Fortunate Son Cabernet Sauvignon Diplomat
2019 Fortunate Son “The Diplomat” Bordeaux-style Blend Napa Valley
San Francisco Wine Panel Score 97 Points
Primarily from Calistoga fruit, this rich bottling is a near 50/50 Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot blend. The nose, if still a bit youthfully reserved, displays the wines concentration in its deep chocolate, mulberry, red plum, black fig, laurel, baking spice and graphite aromas. There is impressive grip on the palate which creates a leaner, more racy mouth-feel that sharply focuses the more than generous flavors of Cherry Bounce, mulberry, fig, mocha, licorice root, coffee bean, vanilla and toasted cedar. The long, lingering finish is youthful and dinner balanced. It will improve for at least another three years and will be a sturdy wine to have in the cellar. Produced by Hundred Acre Winery.
Riper and substantially more expressive than the 2018, Fortunate Son's 2019 Red Wine The Diplomat is a plush, luscious wine, laden with black cherries, mocha and loam notes. It's full-bodied, rich, velvety and supple, with a lingering finish. Like the previous vintage, it's mainly Cabernet Sauvignon, with a fair whack of Merlot.
